Dynamic Defense - Bracelet Attachment

About our project

We are part of a design group of 4 at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. We noticed an increase in safety alerts on campus regarding assaults that took place on very heavily trafficked areas on campus. Additionally, current self-defense items require the owner to anticipate attack and have the item ready. To try and help students feel safer overall and hopefully increase the efficiency of self-defense items, we decided to design a wearable self-defense attachment that anyone can feel comfortable keeping on them.

Dynamic Defense is the name of our design as it is made with adjustability in mind. After doing some research, it showed that many students did not carry self-defense on them because of the way it looked, it was inconvenient, or they felt they didn't need it. The importance of our product comes from tackling all of these opportunities by creating something that everyone will just naturally carry with them in any way they want--and even when they think they don't need it, they will be prepared. Our design has no targeted gender, style, or group, we simply want all to feel safer.
